Simple Little Update

Hello all!

Well, I have not gotten nearly as much writing done this week as I thought I would, but that's okay, because I got some other things done instead.

For that reason, there is not going to be too big of an update today. Most of what I had to say was said in Friday's Blog Post.

But, in case you were wondering, here are the current word counts!

New Releases:
    - The Degenerates - Click here to get your copy!
    - The Deserted - Click here to get your copy!

Total Words in January (so far!): 14,097

Into Oblivion takes the credit for this. Trying to decide the beginning of The Sacred has caused me to change my mind multiple times, so I've started and deleted it several time. I'll decide on a first chapter in the next few days, but after the end of The Faith, I have to carefully execute the starting point of The Sacred.

Editing
The Faith
     -Red Edits Round 1: 100%
     -Blue Edits Round 1: 100%
-Red Edits Round 2: Starting Soon!

In Progress
Into Oblivion:  22,679 words - 30% complete
The Sacred (The Faith Book 2): 418 words - 1% complete
Inside the Silence: 27 words - 1% complete

Website Updates: Extras, Goodies, and a New Story!

Unusual Friday post!

Hello everyone! Hope you're enjoying the final few days of January, because February is going to have all kinds of exciting things for you.

There have been some updates to my website (www.kjamidon.com). If you have not been to my website, you better head on over there and see all the exciting new things I put up for you.

First and foremost, I have started putting up old newsletters on the Archives page. These newsletters are old. I will post them on the Archives page two months after I mail them out, so if you want to get them on time, sign up for my mailing list here! The newsletters are sent out the first of every month recalling the previous month and discussing what you can expect in the upcoming month. These newsletters are full of things I do not post anywhere else.

Right now, only the November 2016 Newsletter is available on the Archives page.

If you're poking around the site, you might also notice that there is another page marked "Store." Yep. At the moment, I only have one item in the store, and there is a limited number. I hope to add more as time goes on. If you want a signed paperback of The Significant, this is where you get it!

If there are other signed books you would like to see in the store, post to any of my social media platforms and let me know!

Now, for the update I'm sure everyone has been waiting for.

I have started the process of releasing The Faith. I will not tell you when it will be out, but the release schedule is now posted on the website.

Yep, you will now find The Faith listed under the Written Works page, and it has its own page (granted, there is not much on it), On the page is just the release schedule, when you can expect to find the Synopsis, the Cover Art, and the Book Trailer. These are coming out soon, all leading up to the release of the actual book.

I am excited for this release. I hope you are too!!

Getting My Groove Back!

Image result for emperor's new groove gif

Thankfully, I am starting to get my groove back!

Starting up again after finishing a big project is never easy. This has been no exception. I have the desire to write, but I have been unable to sit down and pump out scenes as I can when I'm in the middle of a project (I actually write faster as I go).

That is slowly starting to change. I did manage to make some head-way on Into Oblivion, and even mapped out the story, which is a big step in the process of the whole thing. Now, I just have to keep my butt in the chair and get it going!

The previous week has been a quiet one in general. I have caught up on some movies I've been wanting to see, I've sat and stared at walls for hours on end developing stories (no joke, that's how I do it), and have taken the time to catch my breath.

I also have taken the time to schedule the releases of The Faith, so you can expect to see more on that very soon!

Speaking of The Faith, the sequel, The Sacred, it should start finding its way onto paper in the next week or so. As of now I do not know when I want to release it. It might be summer, but I will have to see how well The Faith does and how my development for Into Oblivion goes.

The good news about all this? I am starting to make progress again!

If anyone is wondering why I harp so much on getting words down on paper, even when I have busted my ass to get three projects done in such a short amount of time, I'll be honest with you, it is dangerous for me not to write. As with most creative people, if I am not practicing my art, my brain can go to a very dark place and wreak havoc on my mental state.

As Franz Kafka so beautifully put it:

But, all of this is good news for my readers. There will probably never be a shortage of stories!

Bring on the updates!

Getting the first two rounds of editing done on The Faith was an absolute chore. I mean, all rough drafts need an enormous amount of work, but this one killed some red pens. And it wasn't because the writing was worse than usual or because the story had a bunch of holes. It was because the story is complex and sets up for one hell of a ride, so I really put a lot of brain power into this first round of editing.

More than anything, it was to try and preserve the sanity of my test readers.

Actually, my test readers love me!

In Progress
Into Oblivion:  21,184 words - 30% complete
The Sacred (The Faith Book 2): In development
Inside the Silence: 27 words - 1% complete

Now, I am considering taking Inside the Silence off the list for now. I am not making much progress on it, and The Faith and Into Oblivion are both series and they are likely to take over my entire brain in the next year. I will make my decision by the next blog post. I like the story, but it's not talking to me at the moment.

In other writing-related news, if you haven't seen it yet, there is a new book trailer for Inside!

Other than those little things, I have nothing to report.

Happy Friday! Have a Book Trailer!

So, with The Significant trailer turning out so good and considering doing another one for The Faith, I thought it would be only fair that Inside get one as well!

Unfortunately, I do not think it possible to do a book trailer for the Dimension Guardian Series (as much as I would love to!). That story is super complicated, super fantastical, and I think just a little out of the scope of what I can manage/afford at this time.

So, enjoy the brand new Book Trailer for Inside. This one was a doozy!

If you have not read Inside yet, it says it right at the top of the synopsis:

WARNING! Reader Discretion Advised! 18+

Do not take this warning lightly!

"America is peaceful and back at the top of the world seventy years after the Second Revolutionary War tore through the country and gave birth to Central--the new government. For Lily Sandover the Second Revolution is just another war to learn about in school, until her political father gets promoted into Central and she is taught that everything is not as it appears.

Lily's family soon gets invited into a branch of Central that acts more like an exclusive club called the Commission of the People, and once you're in the Commission, you're in the Commission for life. The Commission of the People is responsible for keeping the peace of America, and Lily soon learns that the peace comes at an extremely high price.

Using her position inside the Commission, and the obsession that the leader of the Commission has for her, she tries to find a way to change the face of America and bring down the Commission of the People."

Not Much to Report..

Happy Sunday, everyone!

I am afraid I do not have much to post regarding this week, as it has been a very quiet week on the writing front. I have been too mentally exhausted to tackle new projects and have been directing whatever energy I do have into editing The Faith.

The most interesting thing going on around here is the weather. We've had a series of storms come through the area, cause flooding, and then severe ice and snow that closed down most major highways, and more rain is expected quite soon. This meant that today was spent cleaning out irrigation ditches and grading horse pens to prepare for the next rain and keep flooding to a minimum. The plus side of all that was that I got to spend most of the day running heavy machinery--always fun!

So, the updates are small today...but not at all disappointing if you're getting ready for The Faith!

New Releases:
    - The Degenerates - Click here to get your copy!
    - The Deserted - Click here to get your copy!

Total Words in January (so far!): Still 0

Again, I am sorry to report that there has been absolutely no writing done so far in January. There has, however, been an enormous amount of editing!

Editing
The Faith (88,346 words)
     -Red Edits Round 1: 90%
     -Blue Edits Round 1: 50%

The edits have actually been going slower than I anticipated, but that is because of the incredible amount of detail in this story. To set the right tone and in order to keep everything straight, I have had to go through it with a fine-tooth comb before I send it off for my test readers to be sure I have presented everything correctly.

In Progress
Into Oblivion:  9,000 words - 5% complete
The Sacred (The Faith Book 2): In development
Inside the Silence: 27 words - 1% complete

While there has been no writing, I have been turning over all kinds of ideas for these books, so the good news is that I am starting to regain my creative spark. Please be understanding if it takes longer for me to put down words on paper. Writing a novel is exhausting business!

...and the crash

Hey everyone!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. It is raining like crazy over in my area, and there are flood warnings everywhere. Thankfully, we're out of the flood planes, but the storm has still made our entire property a soggy, muddy mess.

And it used to be so pretty covered in snow!

Well, if you've been following the blog for a while, you may have noticed that I have been writing up a storm the past several weeks. And, to top it off, I have released now two books!

That's right! The Deserted is now available!

I can not tell you the amount of relief I feel at having both The Degenerates and The Deserted done. It was a serious push to get these done. But now both parts of The Significant Expanded Story are out for you to enjoy!

And, not only that, but the rough draft of The Faith was finally finished.

So, naturally, what happened?

I crashed. Hard.

To put it bluntly, I have felt horrible this past week, and I know I am not actually sick because I am a hermit and I am in contact with almost no one, so I could not have picked up an illness anywhere. Also, my mental state has been particularly shaky, telling me that I pushed too hard on writing and I am mentally and emotionally exhausted.

But not to worry, I can never stop for long--I lose my mind from boredom!

    - The Deserted - Click here to get your copy!

Total Words in January (so far!): 0

Yeah, I have not written at all this week. Like I said, I have been burnt out. Hopefully next week I can get a few thousand out and ease into a slower routine. Having The Degenerates and The Deserted on my release list was out of the ordinary, and now I can move to a slower release schedule.

I know, that might not be super appealing to my readers, but you will be very informed on every book coming out. There is already a schedule for The Faith, including the date for cover release and synopsis release, so you will know long in advance when the next one is coming out!

No change on these guys, but hopefully soon. I am looking at May to release Into Oblivion, but that is a very tentative date until I am able to get back in the saddle and write again.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!

Sorry for the late blog post, but something came up yesterday and I was unable to find time to write one. I had been in California visiting my grandfather, but weather changes forced me to drive back early to get over the mountains before the snow made the roads too dangerous.

By the time I got back, I was too tired to do much of anything.

Image result for exhausted gif

Anyway, welcome to 2017! Let's make this year absolutely amazing!!

If you follow me on social media, you might have seen that I finished Draft 1 of The Faith! I cannot tell you how excited I am to have that project in editing. I have been wanting to write this story for years, but it is a very difficult project, as there is a lot going on, so I never had the courage to tackle it. But now, book 1 has moved into editing and I am pretty pleased with it.

With that moving into editing, the sequel has moved under "In Progress" but please understand if it takes me some time to jump into that. I have written more in the last two months than I consider normal and I am on my last creative leg for a while--writing novels is tiring!

If you want to see more about The Faith, keep your eyes open in February for cover releases, synopsis releases, and maybe even a little video for you!

I have made a few small resolutions this year, as I am sure many have. Some of them are a little too personal to share online, but here are a few!

--Brush up on my French & Japanese

--Visit a country I have never been to

Let's see if I can make it happen this year!

Time for writing updates!!
